This Bishop warns Buhari against polluting his cabinet with PDP defectors

by Temitope Onitiju

President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari has been warned to be careful of the defecting politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Diocesan Bishop, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Egba, Rt Reverend Emmanuel Adekunle, says Buhari should not to allow the defectors pollute his administration.

Adekunle gave the counsel on Tuesday, April 21, while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta.

He said: “Since the APC won the presidential election, politicians from other political parties started moving to the APC.

“I must sound a note of caution, the president-elect should be careful of appointing those who are defecting from another political parties to the APC as ministers or into other key positions. Because, they have different ideologies and values.”

“They are coming from a different system. He should not appoint those who will pollute his administration. Nigerians are expecting much from him; so, he has to be careful about those who will work with him.”

Speaking further, Adekunle advised Buhari to appoint technocrats in different fields to fill his cabinet.

“The president-elect must look beyond the political party he belongs to in choosing his ministers. The issue is about building the country and not about building any political party. So the President should also consider technocrats, who may be in other political parties. The change we want is about masses-oriented programmes.”
