15 Boko Haram Fighters killed, 20 more arrested
The Nigerien Defense and Security Forces (FDS) killed 15 boko haram members and arrested 20 during heavy clashes that occurred between June 18 to 23 in Niger’s Diffa region near the Nigerian border
On Wednesday, an official report revealed that following an attack by Boko Haram on June 17 in Niger’s Gueskerou commune, FDS launched reprisal ground and air operations in the area.

Moustapha Ledru, the spokesman for Niger’s defence ministry said that aside from those killed and arrested, one armored vehicle was recovered and 20 motorcycles destroyed during the operation and that no causality was recorded on the part of the army.
Vanguard reports that Karidjo Mahamadou, Niger’s national defence minister is quoted as commending the military on a brilliant job and encouraged them to continue in their quest for national peace and security.
Just like other countries in the Lake Chad Basin, Niger has also come under attack from the Islamist group that has left both civilians and military dead.

Recently, A new Islamic group with ideology similar to Boko Haram sect appeared at Gwadangwaji, the outskirts of Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi state.
