Calabar Grounded For 10 hours Due To VP Osinbajo’s Visit (PHOTOS)
Calabar, the Cross River State capital was yesterday, June 24, put on lock-down for about 10 hours following the visit of Vice President Yemi Osibanjo.
The lock-down affected both human and vehicular movements as major routes in the capital city were blocked by security officials. Business activities also came to a halt as roads leading to markets and other business areas were blocked.
The situation was so bad that journalists who wanted to cover the event were unable to secure transportation to the venue, the few who did were bared from gaining entrance by security men.

According to Linda Ikeji Blog, Asuquo Akanimoh, a shop owner lamented that: “I left my house at eight miles to my shop only to spent six hours on the road, even when I got to my shop the entire place was dull because customers could not have access to the roads due to the markets, as I speak with you I have not sold even a pant which is very bad.”
The same sentiment was shared by others who felt the blockade was uncalled for and had cost the city huge loss economically.
