Governor El-Rufai Makes Demand Of FG

The Governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has called on the federal government to restructure the civil service so as to move the nation forward.

El-Rufai made this call  in Abuja on Thursday, June 25, during a book presentation on civil service, authored by Goke Adegoroye, a former permanent secretary, The Nation reports.

The governor decried that the federal civil service had been allowed to slide into decadence due to the culture of protecting an evil minority by the system.

“My advice is that if you want the civil service institution to survive, you must learn to do away with the evil minority that you protect, as a matter of duty,”  he said.

The governor assured Nigerians that the next four years will witness significant behavioural change in the country’s political leaders.

“The country must reform its governing system, which means hard decisions must be taken, and I think it is an opportunity for the entire governance structure and the machinery of government to be reviewed and I think the public service, particularly the civil service have a key role to play in this renewal,”  he added.

In a related development, el-Rufai has stated that the problems of security, deteriorating economy, lack of jobs and general desolation among the populace in Nigeria would require extraordinary efforts and God’s intervention to surmount.

He made this known to the leadership of the state chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna a week ago.
