PHOTOS: Families Of Fallen Soldiers Receive Financial Support From Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has presented cheques to families of soldiers and officers who died in ongoing operations against Boko Haram terrorists.

Channels TV reports that 62 cheques were presented to the recipients by Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar, the chief of Army administration, on June 25, Thursday.

Major General said that the gesture was the sign of appreciation for their fallen colleagues and the support for their families.

He also urged the relatives to commence the process of claiming other entitlements due them, including insurance, pension and sponsorship of their bereaved children between the ages of six and eighteen.

For over five years Boko Haram terrorists have carried out scores of attacks in the north-east of Nigeria.

According to the United Nations high commissioner for refugees, Boko Haram attacks on communities in the region displaced close to two million persons and killed unidentified number of soldiers.

Earlier this year, the National Emergency Management Agency presented relief materials to widows of slain soldiers in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in Maiduguri, Borno state.
