Nigeria Needs A Leader Who’s Physically Strong And Mentally Alert – Aeroland

People’s Democratic Party’s senatorial candidate for Lagos – West senatorial district in the last general elections, Segun Adewale Aeroland, has said that President Muhammdu Buhari’s old age slows him down and affects some of him decisions at the detriment of Nigerians, adding that what the country deserve is a physically strong and mentally alert leader who can handle the stress that comes with the job.

Adewale who said this during an interview, while speaking on the delay in the appointment of ministers, added that Nigerians are suffering and it is a shame that the people they voted for are only interested in sharing positions and not thinking of governance.

His words,“The APC told us that they are taking their time. But I feel President Buhari’s age is affecting the decision even if they do not want to admit it. The President’s age is making him to move slowly and Nigeria is a very complex country where we need a leader that is physically strong and mentally alert to handle the stress that comes with the job but at his age, he has to go slow.

“We need ministers to get to work as fast as possible. Even if the president does not appoint other ministers, he should appoint the minister of Finance to regulate the economy. The exchange rate of a dollar to Naira is now N230. We need to bring a minister of Finance urgently to regulate.

“It is not the job of the CBN alone. The government can afford to delay the appointment of other ministers but not the Finance minister or things will get from bad to worst.

“Nigerians are suffering and it is a shame that the people they voted for are only interested in sharing positions and not thinking of governance. People who voted for them are clamouring for change and their leaders are interested in positions.

“My advice to the present government is that they should quickly get down to work and move this country forward. There is no time for all these bickering because a lot of Nigerians want to feel the change for the better,” he said.

Speaking on some of the appointments made so far by the president, he said: “I have learnt way back during my university days that there is a south and north dichotomy in our country. The south has economic power while the north needs the political power since they do not have economic power.

“With this understanding, you will know that the north needs the power desperately and now that they have it, they will want to bring the resource to the north and they do not care whose ox is gored. It is unfortunate that Tinubu and the ACN went into unholy alliance with the north, thinking that they can get the power at the center, but it is now clear to them that the northerners are also very desperate,” he averred.

President Buhari has meanwhile reacted to remarks from exasperated Nigerians who have tagged him “Baba Go Slow”.

Speaking in Washington on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, the president said in response to critics who have nicknamed him “Baba Go Slow”, he prefers to “go slow and steady”.

Defending the delay in the appointment of his ministers, Buhari noted that the PDP-led governments never announced ministers within four months.
