FIFA Presidency: CAF President Reacts To Odegbami, Orji Kalu’s Aspirations
President of the Confederation of African Football, Alhaji (Dr) Issa Hayatou has promised to support Nigerians who are looking to succeed Sepp Blatter as president of FIFA.
Two Nigerians, Segun Odegbami and Orji Uzor Kalu have already announced their intentions to run for he FIFA presidency.
In a statement issued by the NFF, it was reveled that Hayatou had a closed door meeting with NFF president, Amaju Pinnick in Yaounde, Cameroon on Monday,where he praised the Pinnick’s team for promoting football in Nigeria through its diffferent policies.
The CAF president called Nigeria a very important nation in African and world football, whose presence influence the direction of the bautiful game.

Pinnick assured Hayatous that the NFF was behind CAF in being a leader i world football.
He said: “As a responsible affiliate body, the NFF will continue to follow CAF’s lead in global football politics and policies. We have a lot of developmental programs that we are about to unveil, and we will always require CAF’s support.”
The meeting between Pinnick and Hayatou was used to ease talks between FIFA presidency aspirants in Nigeria and CAF.
The NFF has already said that anyone can declare his intentions to become the next FIFA president but will have to make proper consultations to avoid embarrassments on the international stage.
The NFF recalled how two Nigerian football administrators lost elections to be on the FIFA/CAF Executive Committees due to lack of extensive consultations.
