Ministerial List: You Goofed, Group Tells Oyo APC

An Osun state based human and environmental rights activist, Comrade Amitolu Shittu has condemned the Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on the unwarranted attack against the nomination of Barr. Bayo Shittu and considered it retrogressive, anti-change and unnecessary.

Recall that the Oyo state APC is strongly against the nomination of Adebayo Shittu as minister of the state. According to the party, Shittu did not participate in any party activities including campaigns during the buildup to the 2015 general elections, except on one occasion of the presidential rally in Ibadan.

But comrade Amitolu, who is the Director General of De Raufs, an international non-Governmental Organisation, stated this at a Civil Society roundtable organised by Centre for Voters Awareness in Ibadan on setting the Agenda for the Ministerial Nominees that will work with President Muhammadu Buhari. According to him, Nigerians are super critics, and they will criticise any list based on partisan, theological and ethnic leaning.

“It is mental laziness to think that President Buhari will come up with unknown and untested individuals to man the ministries at a critical time of our national economic downturn, it is more unfortunate that the Nominees have been tested and the president considers them as trusted ally needed to reposition the country on the path to development. What we should do is to position the consciousness of the citizens along post performance evaluation of the nominees rather than the celebrating unholy attacks on them and the President” Shittu said

The widely travelled anti-corruption activist further stated that, Oyo Apc has nothing to fear about Barr. Bayo Shittu as he will bring integrity and incorruptibility to any ministry assigned to him.

“Oyo APC goofed on the resistance against  nomination of Barr. Bayo Shittu. He is more than qualified than any of his peers; he is experienced, incorruptible and courageous. I wonder why the party will descend to fight the best among its member in Oyo State. Bayo Shittu, that I know, will add value to President Muhammadu Buhari’s government and I challenge the party to present any leading member that can match Bayo Shittu’s incorruptibility and integrity coefficient in the State” he further emphasized.

Shittu also commends President Buhari on nomination of Lai Mohammed saying that Barr. Lai Mohammed has never been caught with any fraudulent practices and His agitation for good governance stand tall.

Report has that APC chieftains whose names are on the ministerial have started lobbying senators so they can successfully scale the screening process billed for Wednesday, October 7. Some others are said to have gone spiritual, embarking on intensive prayer sessions.

Meanwhile, some states are reportedly gearing up to oppose the nomination their state nominees. Among those expected t0o face resistance are former Rivers state governors Rotimi Amaechi.
