PHOTOS: Boy Thrown Off 135m Bridge After Refusing To Kill Man For Gang
A 12-year-old boy was thrown off a 135m bridge after refusing to kill a bus driver for a gang in Guatemala city in Guatemala.

Angel Ariel Escalante Perez was going home from school when a local gang members stopped him ordering to kill a random bus driver. After a brave boy refused to obey he was given the choice of being killed — be stabbed to death with a machete or by being thrown from the bridge.
Moments after he was thrown off Incienso Bridge, one of the longest and highest road bridges in Central America. Litte Angel miraculously survived after landing on thick foliage under the bridge. He lay there undiscovered for three whole days until his father, Luis Escalante, found him.

As the boy was critically injured and unable to move, firefighters were called to rescue him from the deep gully. Eventually, he was rushed to hospital, where doctors were figthing for his life for 15 days. Unfortunately, Angel died from his injuries.

Criminal groups in Latin America usually recruit underage children from poor families for their own purposes, such as murder, drugs and guns smuggling. The gangs are using them as some kind of shield — if some members of the group were caught, the children would be punished.
