FIFA Ranking: Time to Sunday Oliseh to start acting
The Super Eagles dropped seven places from 59th in the world in October to 66th in November
The Super Eagles of Nigeria continued their massive drop in the FIFA Ranking under Sunday Oliseh.
In the new ranking released on Thursday, December 3, the Super Eagles dropped seven places from 59th in the world in October to 66th in November.
During the month of November, Nigeria lost 41 rankings points from last month and now have a total of 541 ranking points. Africa’s highest ranked team, the Ivory Coast have a total of 950 ranking points.
Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde Islands, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo, Guinea, Egypt, Cameroun, Congo DR. Mali and Uganda are all above Nigeria in the latest ranking.
Criteria for arriving at a country’s placing/position on the monthly rankings is determined by the result(s) and number of matches placed by a particular country in the month under review.

The importance of the match, strength of the opposition and confederation strength weights are some of the other factors FIFA consider in arriving at a country’s eventual placing/position on the rankings.
In the month of November, Olisehs’s Super Eagles played only two games-the double header against Swaziland in the preliminary stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles drew the first leg before winning the second leg in Port Harcourt 2-0.
It’s time for Sunday Oliseh to start acting now, to improve the Super Eagles standing on the FIFA Ranking.
