Graphic Photos: Fire Outbreak at Chicason Gas Plant Nnewi, Many Feared Dead

The Christmas mood in Nnewi was shattered midday today as Chikason gas depot located at Nnewi-Okigwe Road, Anambra State, behind Innoson Motor Manufacturing industry today exploded.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion shook buildings causing panic, deaths and horror. There are doubts Nnewi has ever witnessed anything like this.

The depot and its surroundings including family compounds located beside it were completely burnt. Motorcyclists using the depot road were burnt beyond recognition. All workers and customers at the Depot were also burnt beyond recognition.

Men of the fire service and road safety are currently at the scene trying to prevent further damage and at same time evacuating the seen burnt bodies. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
