Ambode: Governor shuts Oshodi market
Ayorinde also assured Lagosians that the government will do its best to ensure that the market is safe for everyone.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde announced to newsmen on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 that the Lagos state government has shut the Owonifari market, in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area.
Ayorinde said the government had to shut the market, based on reports that hoodlums were harassing innocent Lagosians and most times, robbing them at gun point.
He also said the affected traders have been moved to the new shopping complex at Isopakodowo, around Bolade area.
The government said the Owonifari market will be reconstructed into a befitting bus terminal with shelters that meet the standard of a mega city.
Ayorinde hinted that the state government is undertaking a beautification project, along Ilupeju bypass to PWD/Ikeja GRA.
