Genevieve Nnaji, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Adesua Etomi, Belinda Effah, Fulu Mugovhani, Mary Lazarus: Who will win the 'best actress in a drama" at 2016 AMVCA?

 

Six talented actresses have been nominated in this year’s 'Best Actress in a drama' category of the 2016 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards. Who do you think will win the coveted award?

The nominees for the 2016 edition of Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) was announced today, Friday, December 11, 2015.

Six talented actresses have been nominated in this year’s 'Best Actress in a drama' category of the 2016 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards.

 

The nominees are Genevieve Nnaji, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Adesua Etomi, Belinda Effah, Fulu Mugovhani and Mary Lazarus.

Who do you think will win the coveted award? Meet the nominees;

1. Genevieve Nnaji - "Road to Yesterday"

The actress has been nominated for her character Victoria, the conflicted wife and mother in "Road to Yesterday."

Set in Lagos Nigeria, Road to Yesterday is an epic love story, about a couple desperate to mend its marriage on a road trip to a relative’s funeral.

2. Adesua Etomi - "Falling"

Etomi has been nominated for her character Muna, the strong and loving wife in "Falling."

"Falling" tells the story of Imoh and Muna who believe nothing can come between them until Imoh has an accident that leaves him comatose for months. Will Muna hold out for him or will she pull the plug?

3. Mary Lazarus  - "Don't Cry for Me"

Mary Lazarus has been nominated for her character Alero, an unfashionable young lady married an unfaithful and manipulative man in "Don't Cry for me."

The movie tells the story of Alero, who is married to Temisan, an unfaithful and manipulative man, who moves in with Alero’s closest friend, without her knowledge.

4. Belinda Effah - "Stop"

The actress has been nominated for her role in the comedy film "Stop," which also stars IK Ogbonna, Kunle Rhemmy, and Rosaline Meurer.

5. Nse Ikpe Etim - "The Visit"

The actress was nominated for her character Ajiri, an educated, 'crazy' Warri-girl in the four-man cast movie "The Visit."

The Visit’ is a four cast movie and it is the story of two couples living together in the same house, but with completely different lifestyles. Their parallel lifestyle at a point colluded and the resulting effect were an intriguing plot and sub-plot.

 6. Fulu Mugovhani - "Ayanda and the Mechanic"

The actress has been nominated for her role as Ayanda in the movie "Ayanda and the Mechanic."

Ayanda and the Mechanic is a coming of age story of a twenty one year old Afro hipster, who embarks on a journey of self discovery trying to keep the memory of her father alive, when she's thrown into a world of greasy overalls, gender stereotypes and abandoned vintage cars in need of a young woman's re inventive touch who tries to reclaim what would've been, what could've been.
