– Residents of Edo state came out to thank the governor for the ongoing constructing of roads.

Hundreds of market women and children in Benin City, the capital of Edo state, on Monday, January 25, literally mobbed the state governor, Adams Oshiomole, along 2nd East Circular Road in the ancient city.

It was a battle of sorts between the governor’s security details and market women, children and other residents who were overjoyed at seeing him as they literally poured out in large numbers to appreciate the governor for the ongoing construction of their road.

‎Governor Oshiomole who had gone on an inspection of the ongoing 6-lane dual carriage road complete with street lights, side drains and walkways almost betrayed his emotions by the show of love and affection of the people residents.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the governor said: “We have restored this place as part of the heart of Benin. I hope the landlords will not decide to increase your rent because we are building these roads for the people. I thank you for your prayers and I hope when these children grow up and become governors they will continue from where we stopped.

“As you can see we did promised that we are going to work much more even before the elections and you can see we have never stopped working and we will never stop working. But you know because you are happy there are people who are not happy they will be dishing out lies on television. 

“We will do our best and we will make sure that the next governor is coming from APC. Will you vote for a party that will return us to the past? If PDP had worked the way we are working now we could have covered all the other streets. I promise you that the next governor that will come, I am going to take him round the city and any work remaining the next governor will complete them.”

Meanwhile, Osaro Obazee, the suspended chairman of Oredo local government area of Edo state, has taken Governor Oshiomole to court over the governor’s decision to sack him despite the fact that he was democratically elected by the people.

The suit was brought before Justice Esohe Ikponmwen of Edo state high court. Listed as defendants are the attorney-general of the state and the Edo state House of Assembly.
