Don’t you know you’re a woman? Sure almost every Nigerian lady must have been asked this question that requires no answer.

You hear it from your parents, uncles, aunties and sometimes your friends. They expect you to act or behave in certain ways as the Nigerian woman that you are.

This is always a reminder that you are doing what a woman shouldn’t be doing and you sometimes wonder who set all these rules and standards.

Here is a list of some of the traits you’re expected to have as a Nigerian woman.

1. Take pride in their ability to cook.

You must love everything that has to with the kitchen from cooking to cleaning up.

2. Be obsessed with movies, especially Nollywood movies.

Not every lady is obsessed with movies, they have other priorities.

3. Support your man’s football club even if you hate the sport with a passion.

Do your thing and allow me do my thing.

4. You must not have too many male friends.

5. Keeping late night is a taboo.

6. If you use washing machine, you’re lazy.

7. Bury your own dreams and ambitions and support your man.

They say it’s a man’s world.

8. Marriage is a do or die affair.

Society assumes if you are not married at a certain age, you’re no good.

9. Be willing to be your man’s maid before he puts a ring on it.

10. Chocolates and ice cream.

Because you’re not a fan of chocolate doesn’t mean you’re not posh.
