Joseph Yobo: Song, Moses, Emenike to play at testimonial of former Super Eagles captain

Yobo visited the trio at West Ham training ground where he received the confirmation from the players.

West Ham players, Alex Song, Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike will play in the testimonial game of ex Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo.

Yobo recently announced his retirement from football and fixed his testimonial game for Friday, May 27.

 

Song, Emenike and Moses have been confirmed that they will be participating in the testimonial match.

Yobo visited the trio at West Ham training ground where he received the confirmation from the players.

Emenike shared a photo of Yobo’ visit on his Instagram.

"It was nice seeing you captain Joseph Yobo we will be there live in Port Harcourt on 27th of May: @17alexsong and Victor Moses," Emenike wrote alongside the photo.

Emenike also accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of disrespecting his former teammate Yobo.

 

The NFF has also fixed May 27 for a friendly game between the Super Eagles and Mali and Emenike believes it’s a sign of disrespect to Yobo.

“Yobo deserves the honour and everybody has to turn up to celebrate him, but it’s unfortunate that it’s the NFF who are now looking like the obstacle to this testimonial,” the West Ham striker told African Football.

The 28-year-old believes it won’t be possible for Super Eagles players to partake in the testimonial of their former captain because of the friendly game.

“Yobo was one of the best in Africa during his playing days, he’s a known name all over the world and he should be celebrated in a bigger way. The younger ones are watching, let’s change things,” he further said.

 “We should also understand that we don’t respect our past heroes, we don’t appreciate the past, we only want people to come and die and forget about their life.

The likes of David Moyes, Samuel Eto'o, Yaya Toure and Wayne Rooney are all expected to attend the testimonial.
