PDP beats APC at local council elections in Ondo state

 – ODIEC has announced the fresult of Saturday’s local government elections in Ondo state

– The result shows that the PDP swept the polls

– PDP won about 18 chairmanship seats while ACPN won just 1

The result of elections which held in Ondo state on Saturday, April 23, has been announced by the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).

ODIEC chairman, Prof Olugbenga Ige who announced this at the commission’s headquarters in Akure on Sunday, April 24, 2016 said the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won all the 18 chairmanship seats, 202 councillorship seats, while ACPN won one councillorship seat at Obaile/Owode Ward in Akure north council area.

The Trent reports that the ODIEC chairman expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the exercise and thanked all stakeholders for their support.

In other news, the Ondo state government has announced Monday, April 25, 2016 for the swearing-in of the newly elected local Government Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen at the International Conference and Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure.

A statement by the information commissioner, Kayode Akinmade read: “The Swearing in ceremony will hold  tomorrow at the International Event center, The Dome, Akure by 9am on Monday 25th, April”.

All government functionaries,  political  leaders and traditional leaders in Ondo State have been invited.  Akinmade advised all the invitees to be punctual at this auspicious event in the state.
