The family of late Dr. Tunde Aladesanmi, one of the medical doctors who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna road while on a national assignment has raised alarm over death threats issued them by unknown persons.

The family of the deceased in a statement made available to Naij.com notified the inspector-general of the police, Ekiti state commissioner of police, the Ekiti state government and the public including the international community of a letter sent to them by unknown persons threatening assasination attempt and giving the family a one-day ultimatum to pack their loads and leave the house.

The family said:” It is pertinent to note that while the deceased was alive, he had a cordial relationship with everyone. Quite a lot of people including his co-workers and professional colleagues can attest to the fact he lived a selfless life, served humanity devotedly; did everything within his power and according to the ethics of his profession to save a lot of lives even at odd times.

“It is highly bizarre and unexpected that the family of such a gentle and peace-loving man would receive such threat.

“We are particularly concerned about the safety of the family of the deseased and we want to remind the Federal Government, Ekiti State government as well as other other relevant security agencies of their obligations to protect the Nigerian citizens.”

The family urged the inspector-general of police and other relevant security agencies to swing into action and investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, the Sokoto government has expressed sadness over the death of six Ekiti doctors who died along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway on their way to Sokoto for the 56th annual general conference of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA).

Making known the government’s condolence, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said the unfortunate incidence has left Sokoto people traumatised and has cast a huge shadow over the conference.

He said Sokoto government has already sent a condolence letter to Ekiti state government to condole them over the incident.

While declaring open the NMA’s annual conference in Sokoto Tuesday, Tambuwal urged doctors to uphold the ethics of their profession and promote virtue that will enhance their profession in the country.
