General Shuwa’s murder: Suspect lays serious accusation against army

– Nafiu says he was arrested in his house by the army for a crime he knows nothing about

– The army claims he aided the killing of the civil war hero

Mohammed Sani Nafiu who is the prime suspect in the killing of General Mamam Shuwa has declared that the military is framing him for a crime he knows nothing about.

Genral Shuwa who was a civil war hero was shot dead in Maiduguri on November 2, 2012.

The army confirmed on Monday, May 2, the arrest of suspected killers of the valiant soldiers.

Vanguard reports that Nafiu who was paraded by the military in Kano on Tuesday, May 3 said he knows nothing about the planning and assassination of the civil war hero.

Nafiu said: “I don’t know anything about General Shuwa’s death”

“I was arrested from my home to the detention centre, and they are trying to frame me. I must make myself clear, I have no hand in General Shuwa’s death”.

Brig-Gen Hamisu Hassan said preliminary investigations revealed that Nafiu aided the terrorist, who killed the late general.

Items recovered from Ali Mohammed are: a black Volkswagen Golf car, with registration number, Delta-GWK 775 PP. ONE GSM phone and N20, 100 cash. One GSM phone handset and N300 were recovered from Nafiu.

A senior military officer said Nafiu should be disregarded as he was a liar.

“The suspect is a pathological liar, what we know of him was different from the picture he tried to paint before the world”

“Immediately after General Shuwa was martyr, this suspect relocated from his country home and his arrest was a product of sustained intelligence operation”
