Giwa FC: Jos based club expelled from NPFL
Giwa FC were unable to honour the NPFL fixtures against Wikki Tourist in Illorin, Akwa United and Enyimba.
The League Management Company (LMC) has expelled Giwa FC from the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Organisers of the NPFL, on Friday, May 20 announced that Giwa FC has been expelled due to a breach of NPFL Framework & Rules as they failed to honour three cumulative fixtures without acceptable reason.
Giwa FC were unable to honour the NPFL fixtures against Wikki Tourist in Illorin, Akwa United and Enyimba.
The Chris Giwa owned club was banished to Ilorin to play three consecutive home games after disturbances in its match day 12 game.
They were also fined the sum of N250, 000 as expenses for stadium hire, security and other logistics the LMC incurred for the match against Enyimba and also N10m for failing to honour that fixture with Enyimba, Giwa FC.
Giwa FC has a right to appeal or accept this decision within 48 hours.
Consequently LMC has notified all NPFL club chairmen of the development.
All matches involving Giwa FC, played or unplayed have been suspended without prejudice to the final determination of the matter on the club's failure to honour the game against Enyimba.
LMC has also said all clubs that have played Giwa FC to date will be fairly compensated in proportional basis.
LMC will review the matter of registered players currently contracted to Giwa FC while the club will have to forfeit all monetary earnings due to it this season from the LMC.
