Okupe, who vigorously attacked Nasir El-Rufai, the then governorship aspirant the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the northern state in the run-up to the general elections of 2015 which brought El-Rufai to power in Kaduna and threw Okupe and his principal Jonathan out of Aso Rock, shared a Facebook which condemned the Kaduna government’s alleged demolition plan.
The post was originally written by a Catholic user, Anyaegbusim Ogechi on Thursday, August 18 and Okupe shared it on Sunday, August 21.
Ogechi’s message read: “This is a church, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Mando Kaduna that the Kaduna state government want to demolish… We will not keep quiet until something is done. The Gospel must be preached hohaaa. SHARE until the whole world sees it and come to our aid.”
While the authenticity of this claim could not be immediate confirmed at press time, El-Rufai’s religious policies have come under attack since he began work on a controversial legislation, which is “a bill for a Law to substitute the Kaduna State Religious Preaching Law, 1984″ (the 1984 Edict) or simply known as the Kaduna state Religious Activities Regulation Bill.
The layman’s interpretation of the bill is that is seeks to regulate the practice of Islam and Christianity – the two dominant faiths in Nigeria.
