The Nigerian police has been rated high in its handling of sexual assault cases, the spokesperson for the institution Dan Awunah said in a statement.
Awunah said the ratings is from a recent report by the Justice for All Programme (J4A) the performance of officers of the Nigerian police is a departure from its previous low ratings.
The report funded by J4A, a British council programme working towards improving personal security and access to justice for all Nigerians said the Nigeria Police Force satisfaction rate was comparatively high.
The Nigeria police was rated 94% in communication skills of police officers, 94% on sensitivity of police officers towards victims of assault, 92% on information provided by the police officers these cases.

Also, it said that a feedback on the engagement of J4A’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) counsellors indicated that on the aspect of counsellors engagement, the communication skills of counsellors is at 98% while the sensitivity of the police officers is 100%.
Appreciating J4A’s ratings, the acting inspector general of police Ibrahim Idris said the performance is a testimony of his administration’s effort to bring change to the police.
Idris said the police determined to provide efficient service delivery by ensuring that the Force carries out its statutory duties based on international core values of policing with integrity for a safer Nigeria.
He also assured the Justice for All (J4A) that the Nigeria police under his leadership will continue to partner with the organisation in all areas of its engagements in Nigeria.
This, the IGP said will help strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the organisation and the police force.
