The Spanish national basketball team edged their Nigerian counterparts D’Tigers 96-87 for their first win at the ongoing 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The European side who are equally the world number two team started the game on a very formidable note, preventing D’Tigers to shoot as they won the first quarter 25-11.
D’Tigers raised their game and their efforts paid off as they were just two points behind as at the end of the second quarter; Nigeria 41 – Spain 43
The Nigerian side started the third quarter with a high level of confidence, dunking several rebounds but the Oguchi the side lost their lead- Nigeria 77-81 Spain.
The Nigerian captain Oguchi continued his fine form completing the game with 24 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, finishing 7 of his attempted 12 tree-point shots.
D’Tigers will who are already out of the competition having lost to Italy and Lithuania will now play Croatia in their fourth game of the tournament on Sunday, August 14 at 2:30am, before playing Brazil on Monday, August 15, at 6:15pm.
