A 65-year-old woman, identified as Iya Majeobaje has been reportedly found dead inside a well at a mosque’s premises in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.

According to This Day, it was revealed that the incident happened at Ansarul- Deen Mosque, Osere, Sawmill area, of the state.

The deceased, who was reportedly in charge of sanitation of the mosques premises fell into the well last Friday, 19th August, at about 5:00 pm while fetching water to clean the mosque.

Unfortunately, there was nobody within the premises when the incident happened, only to be brought out dead on Saturday, 20th August, afternoon.

According to an eyewitness, there was nobody within the vicinity of the mosque to rescue her when she fell inside the well.

Meanwhile, some of the residents who discovered the dead woman immediately alerted the state fire service in llorin.

The director of the state fire service, Tiamiyu Raji, confirmed the incident.

Raji said personnel from the fire service removed the woman from the well dead on Saturday afternoon.

The state police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi said: “The story is true, the deceased was 65-year-old. We are not suspecting any foul play yet, investigation are on going.”
