Why restructuring will NEVER solve Nigeria’s problem

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said that restructuring was not the solution to Nigeria’s socio-economic and political problem.

Some Nigerians have called on the government to restructure the country as that was the best way the country can move forward.

Vanguard reports that the governor of Kano advocated for the restructuring of people’s mindsets as a way of returning the country to the path of progress.

He said this when he received delegates to a pre-election meeting of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Kano.

Ganduje noted that that US was the strongest country in the world and that was because the country had more nationalities and managed it well inspite of the fact that it was geo-politically fragmented.

The governor attributed the success of the US to its ability to harness s country’s differences and not by restructuring.

He said “Nigeria should devote attention to tapping from the potentialities of its youths for national integration and development.”

He lamented that corruption had played a part in Nigeria’s decadence and argued that the youths were in the best position to lead the fight against it.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubabar has insisted that restructuring Nigeria is the only solution to the problem confronting the nation.

The former vice president has said at the launching of a book titled “We are all Biafran” a month ago that Nigeria risked being a failed state due to its structure although this was countered by the current vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who suggested two weeks ago that diversification of the economy would end the country’s problem.

Osinbajo had said that even if the country us restructured, the same problems would still linger if economic solution is not put in place.

The Punch reports that the former vice president however insists that he believed in restructuring as that was the key to solving Nigeria’s problems.

Atiku said this in a paper he presented at the Late Gen.Usman Katsina Memorial Conference at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Memorial Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna, on Saturday, July 30.
