“You fought the good fight”, Nigerians pay tribute to Mayowa of #savemayowa

Nigerians have been paying tributes to Mayowa Shukurat Ahmed, a young lady who was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian cancer.

On Sunday, August 21, it was reported that Mayowa passed on, following an announcement of her death by a family member via a series of tweets.

By Allah, in who’s hands our lives is, Mayowa Ahmed has left us in this world. We pray that Jannat becomes her home #RipMayowa

Mayowa’s story went viral after she uploaded an Instagram video soliciting for funds from Nigerians. Over N32 million was raised after which an online campaign #savemayowa was launched.

However things got twisted after reports surfaced that the #SaveMayowa initiative was a scam set up by her family. The family later on spoke up, denying the allegations. She later traveled for her surgery abroad
