A pastor was seen preaching from the confines of a coffin.

Pastor Aphiwe Nqezu of the Potter’s House Christian Church, in George town, Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa, was seen trying to preach the gospel while sitting in a coffin.

Nqezu who is said to be a former drug dealer and an ex-convict, repented and became a preacher in 2009. Even though his reason for using the coffin is unclear, he had more supporters than critics.

He said:

“People should understand that whether they are rich or poor or black or white, rich or poor, irrespective of your social status and class, the same fate awaits them which is DEATH.”

Speaking to newsmen, some of his church members had this to say about his bizarre act:

“We brought the coffin to illustrate to people who fail to embrace Jesus as the son of God that they will go to hell and face eternal death. Everybody is going to die someday, so let’s find JESUS and embrace him as our personal lord and saviour before it is too late.”

A cab driver who did not find the idea funny, had this to say:

” It is very disrespectful, Coffins are linked to funerals , a sacred thing in our African culture.”
