Why Vincent Enyeama will not earn his 101st cap against South Africa
by Mark Bassey
Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama, will miss Sunday’s international friendly with South Africa, with a back problem.
The goalkeeper who won his 100th cap for Nigeria against Uganda on Wednesday, picked up the injury during Thursday’s evening training session at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.
Media Officer of the national team, Toyin Ibitoye, confirmed that the Lille man has been replaced by Warri Wolves’ Daniel Akpeyi.
“Enyeama will not be travelling with the team because he sustained a back injury and has been excused from the journey while Daniel Akpeyi of Warri Wolves will serve as his replacement,” Ibitoye said.
“We don’t want him to aggravate his back complaints and it was among the reasons why he won’t be going to South Africa.”
