PDP chieftain slumps and dies after campaining in Taraba

Former Deputy Governor of Taraba State and Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign organisation, Saleh Danboyi is dead.
Danboyi, aged 59, was said to have slumped in his house in Jalingo on Friday night and was quickly rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost. He was deputy governor of the state from 1999 to 2003.
A close family member of the deceased said that Danboyi was about to retire to bed after a hectic day’s campaign when he slumped.
“We immediately rushed him to be the hospital but before we could get there, he gave up the ghost.”
In a statement released by the state government and made available to newsmen, the state acting governor, Sani Abubakar Danladi, described the sudden death of Danboyi as a rude shock.
He further described the late Saleh Danboyi as a loyal and dedicated PDP member who had served Nigeria in several capacities and would be remembered for his humility and team work.
Reacting to the death of the former deputy governor who represented Taraba South in the Senate from 2003-2007, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Joel Ikenya, said PDP has lost a very active and result-oriented politician who’ll be greatly missed.
According to Ikenya, “We have lost a very active and great politician who was very dear to us in PDP. His death would unite the PDP family in the state and he would be immortalised.”
Also, the state PDP chairman, Victor Bala Kona, who spoke through the party’s Public Relation Officer (PRO), Napoleon Adamu, said the demise of Danboyi came as a shock.
On his part, Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Bwacha said the death of Selah Danboyi was very shocking but maintained that being a Christian, he knows that death can come at any time.
