Rivers APC claims it is about to receive ten thousand defectors

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state has announced that it is about to receive ten thousand defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. This claim was made by Dr. Ibiamu Ikanya, the APC chairman in the state.

“Rivers APC is pleased to welcome these patriots in advance and to assure them that they have a found a home in the party of liberation,” Ikanya said.

“We are happy with their decision that Rivers State must not be allowed to play opposition politics in the incoming Federal Government of General Muhammadu Buhari and have fixed Friday, 10th

April, 2015, to formally receive them at the APC State Secretariat at Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt.”

Taking the opportunity to throw a few jabs at the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Nyesom Wike, Ikanya described the decision of many PDP members to defect to APC as equivalent to breaking the PDP’s backbone in Rivers State.

YNaija has been unable to get a reaction from the PDP as calls to Felix Obuah, the PDP chairman in Rivers State went unanswered.

If true, it will be a reversal of fortunes following the high profile defection of Tele Ikuru, the deputy governor of the state in the opposite direction, shortly before the presidential elections, which

were won by the APC.
