The Drive Theory: The Law of Psycholigical Self Reliance: Must read
What is a drive? A drive is a propelling force. A thrust, a push, an impulse. How are you driven? Are you internally-driven or externally-driven? Psychologists and philosophers call it "locus of control". That is the energy source of one's motivation. Humans are first emotional beings before being rational beings. Emotions are like currents release from the brain that charge and control our behaviours and drive us to act in different ways and in a particular fashion. Emotions are stimulated or tickled through the various senses by what we see, touch, hear, taste, feel and think.
You can determine what drives you more. You can be in charge of your emotions and channel them to positive ends. Believe me emotional energy is the most potent. It directly and indirectly influences other bodily, sensual and psychological functions. Having that in mind, you need to be master of yourself, your actions and reactions by activating your screening mechanisms. You need to scrutinize every information that flows to the subconscious. Be careful how you digest the news you hear, the articles you read, the candid advice that people offers you and the public opinions. All these shape your thought in a subtle profound way much more than you are ready to admit or even aware of.
Your spirit can be dampened by a negative talk from a relative or by a gloomy report from an economic analyst, but the good news is you can dispel and neutralize its damaging effect by feeding yourself with positive talks. Block every port of negative emotions and thoughts in your system. Don't dwell much on depressing thoughts, news or words. They will slow you down.
You ought to be internally-driven! People can motivate you, inspire you but the downside is being overly dependent on motivation from other people would cause you frustration and self-doubt if they withdraw their moral support. Besides, everybody is too engrossed in their own lives to care about what's going on in somebody's else's life. You got to be your own motivator! Enough said!
