Power outage forces House of Reps to suspend plenary session

Electricity went off for about 30 minutes earlier today, in the Federal House of Representatives.

Even after the power was restored, the air conditioners in the lower chamber of the National Assembly failed to function.

Deputy Speaker of the House, Emeka Ihedioha reportedly turned to a makeshift comedian in an attempt to placate the lawmakers.

Ihedioha was said to have told them that as patriotic Nigerians, they should be able to work without air conditioners.

In response to his pleas, plenary continued for about 20 minutes, until it had to be suspended 20 minutes later when the heat was too much for the easy-life lawmakers.
