BREAKING: APC Conducts Mock Election For Reps Speaker

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has commenced a primary election to select the party’s candidate for the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The election is currently taking place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja with 182 out of 209 APC members-elect of the House present.

The spokesperson of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the party is just trying to be democratic by allowing the members pick their own speaker.

The party is expected to carry out the same nomination for the Senate. However it is not clear if that vote will hold Saturday.

At the end of ‎nominations, Femi Gbajabiamila and Yakubu Dogara emerged as candidates for position.

After a rowdy session Dogara Yakubu, stormed out of the venue with his supporters alleging irregularities. The Consolidation Group, which is made up members loyal to Dogara will carry out a parallel primary at a different venue.
