INSPIRING Story Of 2 Nigerian Orphans Taken Under Wing By Pepsi Football Academy

Dreams of two Nigerian orphans have recently come true as Pepsi Football Academy (PFA) will sponsor their training and study at Brooke House College in the UK.

Eken Divine is a 15-year-old boy, who orphaned at a tender age and was brought up by his uncle. After observing Eken’s football talent and his difficulty in settling in at school, the boy’s uncle Eken James Okechukwu registered his nephew at the Aba Pepsi Football Academy in 2013.

Eken is so grateful to his uncle that his biggest dream is to repay him and emulate his idol Osaze Odemwingie. The purposeful boy seized the opportunity with both hands and became one of the academy’s best students.

At the selection exercise, which has been recently held in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the teenager emerged as one of the winners of the PFA UK scholarship scheme.

Now Eken Divine is headed to Brooke House College to study and train hard to become a professional footballer. In future he wants to play for Liverpool FC and the Super Eagles.

Nneku Joseph from Anambra state is the other lucky boy, who has been chosen by the football academy. The 17-year-old, who is the second of six children, lost his father when he was in SS1 and was raised by his mother. The woman noticed her son’s talent and passion for football, and registered him at the Jos Academy in 2010.

After five years of hard work and dedication, Joseph Nneku is ready to begin the next phase of the journey to living his dream.

For 23 years, the Pepsi Football Academy has taken in and mentored thousands of young Nigerian football talents, giving them the opportunity to achieve their ambitions and dreams.

Such famous Nigerian international footballers as Elderson Echiejile, Osaze Odemwingie, Joseph Yobo and Sunday Mba have passed through the PFA on their way to becoming professional footballers.
