Police Nab 10 Suspected Assassins In Rivers (PHOTO)
Following the Nigerian police’s dauntless war against crime, the command in Port Harcourt has made a big break, as they apprehended ten suspected hired assassins.
Information gathered says that the assassins were specialists in dealing of dangerous weapons. Their arms trades were funded by the proceeds of land sales, lands which they grabbed with violence.The assassins were apprehended after a failed attempt to annihilate a community leader, Daily Independent learnt.
Sources from the community told journalists that the suspects are believed to be migrants who relocated from nearby villages to some forest between Alakahia and Rumekini community very close to the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
It was also reported the gunmen were in the habit of raping female students of UNIPORT, kidnapping and harassing lecturers as well as terrorizing the residents of the community and its environs.
According to information acquired, the suspects were paid by two villagers to kill a community leader whose name was withheld for security reasons. The said leader seemed to have become an obstacle to the two villager’s free access to the numerous lands they intended to sell.
Sources say the target was traced to his residence by the assassins where he was shot at the lower abdomen.
Luckily, the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where his is said to be currently responding to treatment.

Reports says that as of the time of their apprehension, the hoodlums had sold about 31 plots of land and had used the proceeds to acquire different ammunition.
‘They rape, kidnap and intimidate people in the community with reckless abandon” said a member of the Alakahia community.
Further investigation however shows that three out of the ten suspects had been arrested sometime ago and reprimanded at zone 6, but somehow they were released afterwards.
The community applauded the effort of the police and other security agencies and urged them to never relent in their task to eradicate crime and get rid of criminals from the state. They further pleaded with the police to see to it that the suspects were charged to a competent court of law, where they will dance to the tune of justice.
In a related development, the members of the police in Ogun state nabbed 30 suspected cultists and are set to release their names to the general public, the Ogun state command warns that those affiliated to the criminals arrested, will also come under the light of scrutiny.
