Popular spare parts market located in Ladipo area of Lagos has been reportedly destroyed by some armed men and officials suspected to be working for Mushin local government.
The officials were also said to be supported by a team of policemen on Tuesday morning as they invaded the auto spare parts market and demolished shops in the market as traders were barred from entering the market to remove their goods from the shops.

PM News reports that the armed men on ground were battle ready to forestall any resistance from the traders as the demolition was going on with tipper lorries taking sand and cement into the premises to commence a new renovation exercise.
Kingsley Ogunor, chairman of the market and president of the central market union, said he was not informed before they came for the demolition which threw the entire market into confusion, but it was duly confirmed that a banner was placed by people suspected to be behind the demolition with the inscription: “Proposed Commercial Development of Mushin, Lagos”.

The banner also revealed that the Mushin local government in conjunction with a developer known as Total Value Integrated Services Limited will immediately commence the construction of a modern plaza market in place of the present stalls being demolished.
PM News reports further that the information officer, Mr Akin Akinwunmi was not around to comment on the development with the traders revealing that a developer carried out a similar action some time last year and it did not amount to anything as the traders held on to their stalls.
Just two months ago, the Lagos state government had threatened to destroy the spare parts market over the incessant crisis in the popular market.
