Aregbesola To Critics, I’m Not Afraid Of EFCC
Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola has kicked back at critics who accused him of misappropriation of funds as the state’s civil servants several months of salaries remained unpaid.
Aregbesola said he is not afraid of being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Daily Post reports.
The governor’s new stand was contained in statement released on Tuesday, August 11, by his spokesman, Semiu Okanlawo.

A political activist and social crusader, Yinka Odumakin had on Monday, August 10, written a petition to the EFCC against the state governor on an alleged large scale corruption under his administration.
The governor in his response said his critics are blackmailers who are engaging in an exercise in futility. He added that contrary to how they are painting him black in the public, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission gave him a pat on the back for managing the state’s resources well.

The statement read in part: “Aregbesola has a record that will be hard to beat in public finance especially given the magnitude of the works done in relation to the resources that are available to the state. Please, let them ask the ICPC when they take their petition there next time for a copy of a letter by the anti-graft body written to Governor Aregbesola last year which formed the basis of the agency’s resolve to have Governor Aregbesola as the lead speaker at its lecture in 2014. Perhaps, that will further confirm why their efforts to blackmail this governor are exercises in futility.”
