Car Bomb Scare: Lagos Police Dismiss Threat

Lagos state police command has dismissed fears that a car bomb was planted at a bank in Anthony Village area of the state.

DSP Patricia Amadin, the command’s spokeswoman,  in a statement said that the command was informed of the incident on Wednesday August 12 around 7 a.m.

The statement reads: “The Lagos State Police Command refutes the news of an intention to bomb a bank in Anthony area of Lagos. “On Wednesday at about 0700 hours, the command was awakened by the news of a vehicle laden with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspiciously parked within the premises of GTBank, Anthony Village Branch.

“Upon receipt of the distress call, the Police swung into action. The vehicle and the premises were scanned by the Police Bomb Disposal Unit. “Thereafter, the vehicle was towed to Anthony Village Police Station.

Mrs Ronke Dawodu, the owner of the vehicle later surfaced and said that she was driving home in her car with her children when the car developed a mechanical fault.

The police command advised the public to continue to report suspicious movements around them so as to assist the officers in ridding the state of crime.

Meanwhile, who had planted 16 bombs at Baga road fish market.
