FRSC, NSCDC Have Hijacked Our Work – Police Cry Out
Joseph Mbu, the assistant inspector general of police in charge of zone 2 has lamented that indiscipline, corruption and low self-esteem among officers has made them relinquish their rightful duties to other agencies, Vanguard reports.
Mbu said this on Monday, August 10, while addressing senior officers and seven officers of Ogun state command newly promoted to the position of the chief superintendent of police.

He said that the reason the police is not respected is due to their unprofessional attitude. He compared the police to other military agencies and in his opinion; the police could not match the efficiency of other agencies.
“Policemen in Nigeria cannot compete with their counterpart in the military due to low level of education among officers .Most officers are not behaving in accordance with their ranks and this has made other sister security agencies in the country such as Federal Road Safety Commission, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps among others, to hijack the constitutional responsibilities of the police”,

He said all hands must be on deck so the image of the police could be redeemed. He urged all officers to be dedicated and conduct themselves professionally so the police profession would become enviable again.
In a related development, the deputy inspector general of police has urged officers to be on guard and do everything they can to get rid of crime in the society.
