Hunters, Vigilance Group Kill 100 Insurgents In Adamawa State
On August 16, Sunday, hunters and members of a vigilance group killed 100 members of the Boko Haram sect and apprehended 17 suspected members of the terrorist group in the Madagali area of Adamawa state.
The Punch reports that the killings followed the raiding of Madagali, Michika and Mubi during which the hunters rescued over 280 women and children.
It was gathered that during the exchange of gunshots, three local hunters were injured and rushed to Madagali General Hospital for medical treatment.
It would be recalled that 200 youths had been earlier recruited and were given a special training to face the dreaded group operating in the area.
When contacted, Othman Abubakar, the police public relations officer of Adamawa state command, said that he was aware of the killings, adding that he was still waiting for the official confirmation from the divisional police officer in the area.

A day earlier, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device wrapped around her body at Rumirgo market, Askira Uba LGA of Borno state.
According to a member of the vigilance group, four people were killed and seven people injured when the explosive went off at a checkpoint. Another resident, Ishiaku Dawa, said that the blast also damaged two patrol vehicles.
After visiting the scene, Aderemi Opadokun, the Borno state police commissioner, said: “Three persons, including the suicide bomber, died on the spot. The corpses and the injured victims were carried to the General Hospital.”
Meanwhile, Colonel Sani Usman, the military spokesperson, confirmed the blast, saying that the suicide bomber was on the way to attack the market. He further revealed that attempted suicide bombing was thwarted by a brave vigilante who was injured when the bomb went off.
