New NNPC Boss Sacks PPMC MD

The newly appointed group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, has relieved the managing director of the petroleum products and marketing company (PPMC), Prince Haruna Momoh, of his duties. 

According to Daily Independent, before Momoh’s appointment as the MD of the PPMC in 2011, he had a stint as group general manager and senior technical assistant to the former minister of petroleum resources, Mrs. Alison Madueke.

Momoh had his bachelor of law degree from the University of Benin, his MBA in information technology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and his barrister at law at the Nigeria Law School, Lagos.

He also worked as in-house counsel to NNPC for Eleme Petrochemical Complex Project from 1988 to 1996. From there, he became a legal advisor to Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited (EPCL) and later company secretary.

He moved to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited where he continued his role as company secretary and legal advisor from 2005-2006. He then served as Company Secretary of PPMC from 2006-2010 and took over as the MD a year later.

Daily Independent gathered that the ongoing sacking spree at the NNPC might be a ploy to have All Progressives Congress loyalists at the helm of affairs of the corporation.

Just yesterday, the NNPC sacked all its group executive directors with immediate effect. Kachikwu’s re-organisation, was the focus of major nigerian newspapers yesterday even as his appointment sparked some ethnic rants on micro-blogging site, Twitter.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly gave Kachikwu six objectives to follow while at the helm of affairs of the corporation.
