Scam Alert: SEE What Ex-FRSC Boss Did With Government’s Property

Former corp marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Haladu Hananiya, got involved in a fraud scandal for allegedly paying 150,000 naira for a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser jeep valued around 13 million naira.

Hananiya was said to have used his authority as the former chairman of the Adamawa State University (ADSU) governing council to turn the jeep to his personal property.

The university reportedly bought the brand new vehicle months after Hananiya left his position as the university’s board chairman. Seven days after the purchase, the car was reportedly passed to the former FRSC boss. He bought it off as scrap, paying a token N150,000, an investigation by Premium Times reveals.

The scam would have been concealed from the public if not for Luka Ibrahim Monduva, who first made a petition on it to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The state government decided to dissolve Hananiya-led board two months into its four-year tenure.

However, three months after the board was dissolved, the university reportedly purchased a brand new Toyota which has ‘miraculously’ turned into scrap seven days later.

In his petition, Monduva alleged that prior to Hananiya’s appointment, the university’s management passed the appropriate resolution:

“Principal Officers are entitled to retain their official vehicles once during their tenures after paying the scrap value of N150, 000; and if for any reason an officer leaves office after spending two years or half of the tenure, he shall pay the scrap value of N150,000.”

But Hananiya only spent two months in office, so Monduva described his purchase of the new car on scrap value as “fraudulent and questionable”.

He also maintained that during Hananiya’s short tenure in the university, he was not given any official vehicle.
