Bayelsa Guber Polls: Read What Politicians Are Doing To Ensure PDP Wins

Politicians loyal to Governor Seriake Dickson from the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa state on Tuesday, September 1, met in Yenagoa to brainstorm on a need to unite the contending forces within the party and form a solid force against anti-PDP forces ahead of the governorship elections in the state.

The meeting led to the formation of a political group known as the PDP Integrity Group. According to Daily Times, the group was set up by PDP to unite its leaders and put an end to cases of defection recently noticed within the party in the state.

Prominent members and interim executive of the group comprised ex-state PDP chairman and former commissioner for local government, Deacon James Dugo, the national co-ordinator, Hon. Ferdison Agada, a former state assembly aspirant and director of media and publicity, Barr. Kingdom Blessing, the director of organisation, Embiowe Tonworitimi, the director of women mobilisation, Mrs. Julie Okenarhe, and director of finance, Comrade Timi Gbendo.

Agada was however optimistic that the recent defections of some party members to other parties would not affect the expected victory of the party during the December 5, governorship election in the state.

Agada also announced that the group was made up of politicians and technocrats within the fold of the party to promote the integrity and credibility of the aspirants of the party ahead of the governorship polls.

Meanwhile, governor Dickson has expressed surprise over the sudden death of a retired colonel and the state former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sam Inokoba.

The former chairman recently left the PDP to declare for the December 5, governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
