Manu Garba, Giwa FC Deny Talks Of Appointment

Former coach of the Flying Eagles Manu Garba has denied any appointment with Nigerian Professional Football League side Giwa FC while the club proprietor, Chris Giwa says he never made contacts with the coach. 

Garba was said to have been appointed as technical adviser of Giwa FC on Thursday but the coach has now come out to deny such claims.

The club allegedly made the appointment known through an unverified twitter account @GiwaFCJOS.

  He told goal.com: “Congratulations about what? No, I have not joined Giwa. It is not true. I have made it categorically known to any team that wants to have me about what I want.

“I will not join any team where I will not be in control. I must have powers to make recruitment and take other critical decisions.”

Meanwhile, the club chairman, Chris Giwa expressed dissatisfaction with the rumours that Garba was appointed by his club.

He told goal.com: “I have not discussed about Manu Garba. I never told anybody or journalists about him, let alone about us discussing to bring him to work with us.

“I’m the proprietor of the club and I have not held any discussion about him. I don’t know where this is coming from. Personally, I don’t believe in making noise about my team because I feel seeing is believing. If we have a new coach today – everyone will know.

“Reports like these are why I don’t like talking to the press about things I do because some journalists always want to preempt what has never happened.”

When asked about the authenticity of the Twitter announcement, he said: “As the chairman of the club, I never made any announcement of such or discussed anything about a new coach.”

The club’s former  coach Aminu Musa resigned a few days ago and a search has begun for his replacement.

Garba, led Nigeria’s U20 team to a Round of 16 finish at the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup. He won the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup with the Golden Eaglets.
