Student Pulse gathered that the list include the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Kukah, the immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, and a former Justice of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria and Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (1998-2003), Justice Emmanuel Ayoola.
According to the Chairman, Governing Council of the six-year-old institution, Professor Iyorwuese Hagher, the awardees emerged after “after a rigorous, thorough and merit-based selection process, and in appreciation of their services and contributions to humanity."

ABUAD is a private university located in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
It was established in 2009.
