In reaction to Clark’s comment, the ex-militants on Thursday, October 8, said Clark had moral justification to condemn Jonathan, Vanguard reports.

A statement by the group’s spokesman, Mark Anthony read: “We are surprised at the unguarded comments from a man who called himself elder statesman.

“Clark was part of the rot in the GEJ administration, he should keep quiet and allow other Nigerians to judge GEJ’s stewardship.

According to the group, the former commissioner’s statement against Jonathan was an act of betrayal.

The ex-militants expressed disappointment that Clark would backstab the former president just so he could find favour with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

The NDLF advised Buhari to keep away from people like Clark if he wanted his administration to go well.

Speaking on Buhari’s anti-corruption war, the ex-militants said they were in support of it.

They urged the president not to be selective but to bring all those guilty of looting the nation’s treasury to justice for the creation of a new Nigeria.

The group also asked Buhari to extend the searchlight to people like Clark.

EFCC should track the various bank accounts of Clark and others, who do not hold formal government offices and known open businesses, but are stupendously wealthy,” NDLF added.

Chief Clark was a staunch supporter of Jonathan before he lost the presidential election to Buhari. Some months ago, he berated Buhari, saying and accusing him of surviving on ethnic and religious sentiments.

After Buhari won the elections and was sworn in as president, Clark made a u-turn and declared his support for the president. He said: “I congratulate you and reassure you that as you get to commence the process of peaceful transition and government, you will have my full support, as a man who strongly believes in the unity of Nigeria, just as I supported our most respected late President, Umaru Yar’Adua, and his successor, President Jonathan.
