GoMyWay: Ride-sharing marketplace secures $100,000 funding

GoMyWay hopes to redefine how people travel in Nigeria.

24-year old Damilola Teidi, co-founder/managing director at GoMyWay, said the platform offers passengers the cheapest and most convenient way to travel either long distance or within the Lagos metropolis.

A ride sharing marketplace that connects passengers with ride owners going along the same route, GoMyWay, has announced that it has secured over $100,000 in funding from investors to keep developing carpooling infrastructure with the aim of circumventing traffic gridlock in Lagos.

 

According to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, 24-year old Damilola Teidi, co-founder/managing director at GoMyWay, said the platform offers passengers the cheapest and most convenient way to travel either long distance or within the Lagos metropolis.

She stated that with investors like Konga founder, Sim Shagaya, and Co-Creation Hub providing technical support, GoMyWay has sustainability well set up.

“As a ride owner, your co-travelers pay you an agreed contribution that will help cover some of your travel expenses such as fuel costs. Asides significantly reducing your travel costs, whether as a passenger or ride owner, you get to make new friends, meet potential business partners and conveniently arrive at your destination. In addition, you get to contribute to protecting the environment,” she said.

According to Wikipedia, carpooling represented 43.5% of all trips within the United States and 10% of all commute trips in total.
