Group Raises Alarm Over Alleged APC’s Plot To Destabilise Bayelsa
The Movement for the Actualisation of Egalitarian Society (MAES) has raised the alarm over an alleged plot of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva, to destabilize Bayelsa state to avoid defeat in the upcoming governorship election.
Leadership reports that the group issued a statement by its spokesman, Femi Lawson, in which it alleged that the APC was planning to destabilise the poll by using the security apparatus to hijack power in the state.
“The reality is hitting them daily in spite of their grandstanding and empty propaganda. Timipre Sylva is now jittery. A recent poll conducted revealed that the party cannot muster more than 17% of the votes in Bayelsa state. Yet, the party is determined to squander several billions of money belonging to Nigerians, on the white elephant project of ‘capturing’ Bayelsa state at all cost.
“It should, however, be noted that these desperate men are becoming a serious threat to the Nigerian polity. They are, obviously, no longer planning for elections but how to destabilise the state. They plan to release fake exit polls announcing APC victory before INEC would release the official results and thereby, cause violence,” the statement read in part.

The MAEC further alleged that the party was plotting to use the military and other security agencies to intimidate the people of the state. Therefore, the group called on people to be extra-vigilant and shun the evil plan of the APC.
A week ago, the Peoples Democratic Party alleged foul play ahead of the polls, saying the APC had plans to rig the election. But in a swift response, the Timipre Sylva campaign organization accused the PDP and its governorship candidate, Seriake Dickson of planning to create mayhem in the state.
