A US senator has admitted that he sacrificed a live goat and drank its blood.

A US senator has admitted that he sacrificed a live goat and drank its blood.

The politician, Augustus Sol Invictus, 32 who is currently campaigning for election admitted that he was taking part in a pagan ritual.

 

However the politician has explained the motive for his sacrifice saying :"I walked out to the Mojave desert from Orlando in the spring of 2013 alive.

"I didn't expect to survive. When I got back to the east, I sacrificed a goat in thanksgiving to the god of the wilderness for allowing me to survive."

 

He went on: "Ninety-nine percent of the things that seem weird in my life can be answered with my religion.

"Paganism is mostly about nature-worship. It's about being in harmony with your environment and bringing the world of spirit and world of man together. It's about balance."

 

The scandal surrounding the 32-year-old candidate, who is part of the Libertarian Party of Florida, has even caused the party's state chairman Adrian Wyllie to tender his resignation.

Resigning in protest at Invictus' views, Wyllie wrote on Facebook: "I have been extremely outspoken against Augustus Sol Invictus, who is currently the only candidate for the Libertarian US Senate nomination.

"Mr Invictus has repeatedly vowed that it is his destiny to start a second civil war in America.

"In a 2013 memo to his colleagues, he wrote, 'I have prophesied for years that I was born for a Great War; that if I did not witness the coming of the Second American Civil War, I would begin it myself.'

"He has described himself as an American fascist, and even his campaign logo is nearly identical to that of Benito Mussolini. He has displayed swastikas in his published campaign materials.

"He has expressed support for a eugenics program, which would sterilize, euthanise or forcibly abort 'the weakest, the least intelligent, and the most diseased'.

On the topic of animal sacrifice, Wyllie says: "Mr Invictus practices Thelema, an occult pagan religion and he once brutally and sadistically dismembered a goat in a ritualistic sacrifice.

"Even the legally-changed name he chose for himself is revealing. August Sol Invictus is Latin, and translates to 'The Unconquerable Sun God'."

 

Invictus is an attorney based in Orlando who is hopeful of securing a senate nomination where, his website says, he will "seek to correct the evils of government".

The candidate also stated in a letter composed on US soil that he renounced his US citizenship in 2013 and he once said that blacks and women voting is a bad thing.
