Meet 4 Time Grammy Winning Group That Will be Performing At 2015 AFRIMA (PHOTO)

The second edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) will be coming up in November and among the artists expected to light the stage is four time Grammy award winning singers, Ladysmith.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo

The multiple award-winning male choral group is from South Africa. Ladysmith Black Mambazo is arguably the most decorated male group in Africa having won multiple awards including four Grammys in 1988, 2004, 2009 and 2013 respectively.

Ladysmith was formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960 even though the group had been singing together since the early 1950s. However, it was Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s collaboration with Paul Simon in 1986 for the Graceland album that brought it the much needed international acclaim.

Other artistes billed to perform at the award ceremony include Yemi Alade from Nigeria, Charlotte Dipanda, an Afro pop singer from Cameroon, Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, Olamide from Nigeria.

The 2015 AFRIMA Awards slated for Sunday, November 15 at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

This year’s edition of AFRIMA awards will be the second. The first edition had a superlative representation of music acts from across the continent performing. Wiyaala from Ghana, Dear Zim from Zimbabwe, Radio and Weasel from Uganda, Ahmed Soultan from Morocco, Davido, 2face, Sound Sultan from Nigeria set the stage on fire during the 2014 AFRIMA awards.
